Kapil Krishna Thakur of TMC (alliance: Others) won in this seat defeating CPM. TMC polled 5,51,213 of the total of 12,83,734 votes polled. TMC won the seat in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
Bangaon goes to the polls in the 5st phase of the 2019 General Elections to choose the 17th Lok Sabha on Monday, May 6, 2019. The election results for the seat are scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2019.
