It is a Rural constituency with an approximate literacy rate of 67.36%. There are 15,05,472 voters of which 7,76,151 are male and 7,29,307 are female and 14 voters of the third gender.
Naba Kumar Sarania (Hira) of IND (alliance: Others) won in this seat defeating IND. IND polled 6,34,428 of the total of 12,23,869 votes polled. BOPF won the seat in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
Kokrajhar goes to the polls in the 3st phase of the 2019 General Elections to choose the 17th Lok Sabha on Tuesday, April 23, 2019. The election results for the seat are scheduled for Thursday, May 23, 2019.
The voter turnout in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections was 81.32%.
